hey guys -
sorry, me and kristen's site at www.jenny.justsomegirl.net is down right now. :( our website is spawned off of nancy's website and i think nancy is working on switching host companies and stuff...some internet stuff i don't really understand a whole lot :) but we will get it back up and running ASAP and i have more pictures i scanned in for it.
oh my goodness i've had a great week :) it was "Spiritual Emphasis" week here on campus and they brought in a speaker, David Nasser. he's great, he's so blunt and just tells it like it is. it was so awesome to see 50-60 students accept Christ as their Savior over the 4 days that Nasser spoke! 50-60 students! one of the messages Nasser spoke on was that we can't labor enough to earn our salvation - it's a free gift that God gives us, it's not something we can do a whole bunch of good works to receive. i read in Mark today a couple verses that reiterate that fact:
(this is the disciples speaking) "...'Then who in the world can be saved?' they asked. Jesus looked at them intently and said 'Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.'" Mark 10:26-27
Romans 2:8-9 is another passage that tells us salvation is not by works, though good works should become a natural part of our lives when Christ is our Savior because we love Him and want to be like Him. i think some of the students who accepted God's free gift of salvation this week grew up with the mindset that they had to do good works in order to get to Heaven. even for me, it was a really good reminder that my Salvation is a gift from God and it's nothing i've earned from good things i've done. man...God is just so awesome :)
well i don't want to write too much in each post because if i make it too long, people will start skimming everything and will get bored after reading for like...20 million hours. that's a lot of time spent reading. but if you've been alive for 20 million hours, make sure you email me - i'd like to shake your hand.
i have so much i could write about but i'll save it up for future posts. oooh, suspense.
~Jesus is better than anything you could ever desire for here on earth~
